 The Artex (COBHAM) ELT receives position data from the aircraft navigation system. Once activated, the ELT transmits the latitude & longtitude via digital signal to the COSPAS/SARSAT satellite system. This allows Search & Rescue forces to launch an immediate mission to within 100 meters of the distressed aircraft.
