Greetings from the Mayor – Technology 2015 Catalog
When reflecting on inventions that have changed the world we live in and groundbreaking ideas that
have impacted our reality more than all others, the printing press, gunpowder, penicillin, the conquest
of space, motor vehicles, and telephones – or nowadays, smartphones – certainly come to mind.
Human history is actually replete with an array of different and unusual inventions. Thanks to a
combination of creative and broad-based thinking, and with some help from the right timing and
excellent public relations, those inventions have entered the pantheon of "why didn't someone think
of that before," making the people responsible for them famous worldwide.
Scientific and technological knowledge has reached such heights that our ability to shape and change
our lives appears to be without limit. Although cutting-edge technology promises a fascinating future
to individuals and society as a whole, we must also remember that it is meant to be used by people,
serve enlightened values, and promote responsible worldviews and worthy educational objectives,
while safeguarding all that concerns human dignity, freedom and growth.
At the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality, we are firm believers in technology and in its capacity to bring
people together, improve their quality of life, and streamline processes. We have incorporated
pioneering technologies in our municipal services, and also believe it is our role to lead and enlist the
numerous creative talents found in the city, offer them the most suitable ecosystem, and encourage
them to create enterprising, innovative and inventive ideas – to make all our lives better.
Technology 2015 – The International Exhibition for Technological Developments, initiated and
organized by the Israel Trade Fairs & Convention Center – enriches our city with innovative and awe-
inspiring products and designs. It also proves, once again, that the State of Israel is a high-tech leader
and that we have been blessed with incredible creative skills, outstanding human capital, and first-rate
technological capabilities.
I wish all of you an interesting exhibition that will lead to fruitful and successful collaborations, but also
ones that are people-friendly and environmentally responsible.
